Covid 19

May 22, 2020

To Our Dear Patients,

We have a date! We will start seeing patients again on Monday, June 1.

Please feel free to call our office for an appointment.

My goal is to add confidence in our safety protocol during this Covid-19 pandemic. We have filtered through tons of information to develop the best systems possible to give you a comfortable experience while keeping you, and our team healthy.

We are pleased to announce positive advances to our protocol, the most important being how we handle the aerosols we produce during your dental procedures. Our office is now equipped to significantly reduce aerosols with the following new equipment:

  • Medical grade air purification systems-such as the IQ Air HealthProPlus and the BlueAir 580i Air Purifier. IQAir's HyperHEPA filtration is tested and certified to filter down to 0.003 microns in size (smaller than the smallest virus or bacteria) with a guaranteed minimum efficiency of over 99.5%.

  • Extraoral Dental Suction Systems- when positioned in front of the mouth, this provides additional high volume removal of droplets and aerosols generated with dental treatment.

  • IsoVac Intraoral High Volume Evacuation Systems
  • ULV Cold Mist Fogger- to sanitize the air after our procedures, in between patients.

Our top priority is always your health, safety and well-being. Please know that the choices we make to keep you safe are research-based, keeping your best interests at heart.

My next email will inform you of what to expect with our updated "check in" procedures.

Please don't forget to check us out on Facebook!

See you soon!

To Our Valued Patients,

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. We have been through a lot these past few weeks, and are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control and your safety have always been a top priority for our practice, as you may have witnessed in the past. Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We make sure that our procedures are current and adhere to each agencies' recommendations.

You may see some changes when you come in for your next appointment. These changes will help to protect our patients and staff. For example

Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You will be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.

We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.

You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, books, pamphlets and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients.

We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

My next email will be to inform you of our projected Opening Date. We are still in the process of securing Personal Protection Equipment(PPE) for our team, which has been scarce, and updating protocol which need to be in place before our opening. Subsequent emails over the next few weeks will detail other steps we are taking to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice.

Thank you for being our patient. I am still reachable at all times,at (916) 929-0248, should you have a concern or dental emergency . We value your trust and loyalty, and look forward to seeing you again.

Sincerely,

Dr Y

A Personal Message from Dr. Yumiaco
I hope this note finds you and your loved ones healthy and well ... It has been a month since we temporarily closed our doors. A day does not go by that I don't think about our Dental Family…my team, and you, our patients. I miss all of your smiling faces!

We are trying to learn what the "new normal" will be in our dental office so that we may continue to provide you with the highest level of safe dental care. In this unprecedented time, our top priority is the health and well-being of our patients, families, staff and community. In order to conserve Personal Protective Equipment ("PPE"-such as masks, gloves, gowns) and to prevent community spread, all elective treatment and hygiene appointments continue to be postponed until further notice. At this time, we are updating our protocol for your protection. As we have demonstrated for our entire relationship, we will continue to provide the highest level quality of care to keep you healthy for many years to come.

A healthy immune system is very important…now, more than ever. Oral health is vital to your immune system. Please remember to brush and floss daily, and change your toothbrush more often than usual. This website contains a number of Educational Videos that are concise and informative. If there is a topic you wish to know more about, please don't hesitate to let me know and I'll add it to the page. We also have a Facebook page (Agnes S. Yumiaco DMD Inc) and an Instagram account (dragnesyumiaco).

On a more personal level, I am catching up on rest, continuing education, and crafting. My daughter celebrated her "Sweet Sixteen in Quarantine" and my husband also had his "Sweet 60th" birthday last week. I look forward to reconnecting with you and hearing your stories as well.
We will be contacting everyone who had an appointment during this "hiatus" to reschedule. For those of you in the middle of treatment, every effort will be made to give you priority appointments so that we can finalize what was started. Please be patient as we work to handle all of your needs.
I am always available for your calls.. whether it is a dental concern, or if you just want to talk! I would love to hear from you. All calls to the office are forwarded directly to me at (916) 929-0248.

May God bless each of you and keep you safe..See you soon,

Dr Y

We are currently working on a modified schedule. March 16, 2020

To Our Valued Patients,

I have decided to voluntarily suspend non-urgent treatment for our patients until Monday, March 30, 2020. This decision comes in the wake of an email from the California Dental Association (CDA), sent at 11:00pm on Sunday night:

"The California Dental Association strongly recommends that dentists practicing in California voluntarily suspend nonessential or non-urgent dental care for the next 14 days.

CDA does not make this request lightly, and it is being done out of an abundance of caution during this historic public health emergency. As health care professionals, we all have a role to play in "flattening the curve" in order to follow sound, scientific public health advice to help limit infections and slow the spread of the virus."

For the next 2 weeks we will be in the office, operating with a skeleton crew, answering phone calls and treating emergency patients as needed.

In our field, we are exposed to many pathogens, since we work in close proximity to our patients. Other than COVID-19, we are exposed to the common cold and flu, Hep A, Hep B, Hep C, H1N1, Ebola and HIV, to name a few. We would like to assure you that our Infection Control and Safety Protocols have ALWAYS been in accordance with, or have exceeded the standard practices . We will continue to maintain these standards, regardless of season or sickness, to protect our patients and our team.

I am privileged to call you our patient and consider you a part of our family. We remain committed not only to your oral health, but your overall health as well. Your safety and well being is of the highest importance to us.

We realize this decision will be a burden on our established patients and staff, and agree with the CDA's statement that it is in the best interest of public health. Thank you in advance for your understanding, we will keep you updated with changes as they arise.

With Warm Regards,

Dr. Yumiaco
